We get asked a lot if we do metal roofs. We do shingle roofs only and for a reason.
The metal roofs you see on all the sheds are all pieced together. They are not a true seamless metal roof which is key. When it is not a true seamless metal roof, you will have screws and grommets which overtime can dry rot and cause the roof to leak.
A reason the metal roofs are so popular on sheds is because all the dealers haul in the sheds. Which if using shingles, the shingles can fly off when the sheds are being hauled from wherever they are coming from (KY, OH, GA, and TN).
Another issue is if any storm damage happens to the metal roof such as a tree falling on it then the roof needs to be replaced. Hail can damage the metal roof as well. Whereas a shingled roof can take more impact before being damaged.
Another point is the accessors office accesses metal less because metal is lesser quality.
So keep in mind:
- Since the metal roofs are not a true seamless metal roof the screws and grommets can dry rot causing the roof to leak.
- Metal roofs have less durability when it comes to storm damage.
- Accessors office accesses metal less because it is lower quality.
