Permits

Do not be fooled if told no permits are required for a shed/barn (also known as an “accessory building”).

No matter if a shed/barn is built on site or hauled in the city/county codes and ordinances still apply the same.

The permits are through the local Area Plan Commission and Building Commission.

Codes and Ordinances will differ depending on county, but a location permit is required in all counties and is telling you where you can and cannot put the sheds. Building permits are a different permit and will be different codes and ordinances once a shed/barn is so large.

We have been doing this for over 35 years and we know local codes and ordinances. When a customer orders through us, we make them aware of what is needed and assist them.

We have had issues with homeowners who bought through dealers and had the barn dropped off unknowingly in their easement. The homeowner then receives a letter from Center Point that the shed/barn must be moved by x date. In this case when it is not our shed, we do not touch the barn. And dealers are not a construction company, they sell and drop off and homeowners are left in a tight situation trying to find someone to move the shed/barn. This is only one of the issues that may occur. Some homeowners are not even allowed to have shed/barns per codes and ordnances and can be forced to tear them down.
